Description

The Legal Assistant plays a key role in supporting our legal team by providing high-quality administrative and legal support. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient operation of legal processes through document preparation, file management, legal research, and coordination. The Legal Assistant helps maintain organization, accuracy, and timeliness across a variety of legal matters, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the legal department.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting legal department with file management/intake of legal requests.
Performing updates to and maintenance of contract management system.
Entering data from contracts into contract management system.
Tracking, populating, management and ongoing maintenance of contract management calendar and legal intake portal and requests associated therewith.
General other administrative duties as needed, including but not limited to data analysis from agreements to support business asks.
Performing preliminary review of requests from various internal groups and prepare information and documents for review by General Counsel.
Information gathering and management for compliance/regulatory purposes across the organization, including but not limited to insurance requirements and regulatory filings.
Communicating with internal and external stakeholders as may be required.
Coordinating and scheduling meetings and appointments.

Skills, Knowledge Expertise

Diploma or degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal or related field.
Experience working as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role is an asset.
Excellent, strong written and oral communication skills.
Critical thinker with the ability to make sound decisions.
The ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize.
Strong technical and word processing skills.
Interest in law, procurement and/or contracting.
Proficient with MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint).
Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and meet tight timelines.
Excellent attention to detail and diligent proofreading skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, an excellent team player who takes initiative.
Eagerness to learn new technology/processes and further develop skills.
Good judgement and ability to exercise discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
