Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
We are looking for an outstanding early-career academic to join the vibrant Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering | Te Tari Pūhanga Hangarau. The principal duties of this role are teaching, research and academic service focussed in areas aligned with our Department’s strengths. You will design, develop and deliver teaching in the Electrical and Electronic, Computer, and Mechatronic Engineering disciplines. Your teaching responsibilities include face-to-face delivery and the coordination of courses, including the design and development of curricula, management of teaching teams, oversight of resources and budgets, and the organisation and support of student learning. Adding to the Department’s collaborative research culture by developing a research programme, including undertaking research, supervising postgraduate students, and disseminating research with a focus on positive impact.

You will participate in and guide research, including attracting and securing research income, and regularly disseminating your research in high quality outlets. Supporting collegial service within the Department, across the University, and through engagement with the wider community. You will benefit from mentoring and supervision from continuing academic staff, and your collaborative approach will contribute to, and build, networks and projects both within the Department, industry and across the University.

A PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from a recognised university
An emerging publication record in quality peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, or other recognised research outputs
Demonstrated experience contributing to research projects, research programmes, or externally funded research initiatives
Experience teaching, tutoring, demonstrating, or supporting learning in a tertiary education environment
Proven ability to design and deliver engaging learning experiences and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
Research interests aligned to areas such as power systems, power electronics, wireless communications, RF engineering, embedded systems, signal processing, machine learning, image processing, microfluidics, electronic nanomaterials, or related fields
Evidence of developing a research portfolio and building collaborative relationships with academic, industry, or research partners

You will also bring a commitment to continuous improvement in teaching, a passion for research-led education, and a collaborative approach that reflects UC's values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and tiakitanga. This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Lecturer $94,181 - $113,616
