Job Description

Who we are:

The Role:

The Leading Worker Biodiversity & Native Landscape provides leadership and operational oversight of the Biodiversity and Native Landscapes Team to deliver effective, efficient and ecologically appropriate management of Council managed natural spaces and escarpment areas.

The role is responsible for protecting, maintaining, and enhancing native vegetation, habitat, and ecological values across Council reserves, in line with Council strategies, service standards, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibility

Coordinate and schedule day to day biodiversity and native landscape maintenance activities across Council reserves and gullies.
Deliver works that protect and enhance ecological values, including native vegetation condition, habitat connectivity and biodiversity outcomes.
Implement biodiversity management activities such as weed and pest control, revegetation, seed collection, habitat protection, erosion control, fire risk mitigation and access management.
Identify, protect and enhance native plant species and ecological communities within the landscape.
Maintain and manage broad acre grass seed production area and seed collection programs to support local provenance revegetation and restoration works.
Liaise with contractors, volunteers and internal stakeholders to ensure works are delivered to agreed ecological and operational standards.
Skill & Competencies:

Trade qualifications (Certificate III or equivalent) in Horticulture, Conservation or extensive relevant experience.
Post Trade Qualifications in first line management (Cert 4 Frontline Management).
National Car Drivers Licence (C Class)
Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate
Front Deck Mower Operation (HRT328)
Demonstrated experience in biodiversity, bushland or native landscape management.
Ability to plan, program and supervise day to day operational works
Good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
Good level of literacy and numeracy skills
Knowledge of safe work practices and environmental management practices
Ability to positively influence and motivate work teams
Demonstrated alibility to lead a strong safety & team culture
