Job description
The curriculum is already prepared. The AI already determines the content. Your role is to convince a child they are capable of accomplishing what once seemed impossible.
At Alpha, academic work is completed by students in only two hours per day through adaptive learning technology. This structure allows Guides to concentrate on transformational work: cultivating confidence, resilience, communication skills, and the drive to take on difficult challenges. Your day will not involve standing before a class delivering instruction. Instead, you will coach students through obstacles, acknowledge their successes, and demonstrate what rigorous standards look like when combined with authentic belief in their potential.
You will oversee one K-3 cohort band—either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Half your time is dedicated to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and receiving feedback. The remaining half involves coaching students individually and in small groups, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every child progresses toward challenging weekly objectives. Every moment counts. Students should emerge from your workshops more skilled than when they entered and finish your coaching sessions convinced they can accomplish more than they previously believed.
This position is not suited for someone seeking to deliver curriculum or oversee a traditional classroom. It is designed for someone who enjoys inspiring young children, excels with measurable results, and is convinced the right coach can alter a child's path. If you have motivated kids as a teacher, coach, camp counselor, youth leader, or performer, you will discover a distinctly different kind of classroom environment here.
This is a full-time, on-site position at one of Alpha's campuses. We conduct national recruiting, so job boards may list this opportunity in nearby cities that do not host a campus.
Current vacancies exist in Palo Alto, Los Angeles (South Bay), Malibu, Orange County (Lake Forest), San Francisco, and Santa Monica, CA; Greenwich, CT; Boca Raton and Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; New York City, NY; and Seattle (Kirkland), WA.
If you are interested in a different Alpha campus, submit your application and indicate your preferred location—we will consider you for the relevant opening.
What You Will Be Doing
• Facilitate compelling life-skills workshops that enable K-3 students to develop communication, concentration, feedback reception, and other lasting skills through active engagement rather than passive listening.
• Provide one-on-one and small group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, established motivation systems, and strong rapport to ensure every child remains on course for challenging weekly learning targets.
• Evaluate life-skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2Pass framework, coaching students until they exhibit genuine comprehension—not merely attendance.
• Adjust your coaching methods to match the developmental stage of your cohort, whether that involves songs, physical movement, and narrative for younger children or greater autonomy and responsibility for older students.
• Establish the type of relationships where students feel sufficiently supported to push beyond what they believed they could accomplish.
