Job Description
KFSN-TV/ABC30 Action News, the ABC Owned Television station in Central California, is seeking a General Assignment Reporter to join our top-rated news team. We want someone who thrives on breaking news and excels at telling accurate, balanced, and engaging stories.
The ideal candidate will report for the station’s newscasts and digital platforms, all while keeping the audience updated along the way on social media. Our reporters are expected to turn creative and memorable stories, often fronting them with active live shots. The ideal candidate innovates, pitches strong stories, and is willing to experiment with new technology. This person must be organized, flexible, and work well under pressure and constant deadlines. We want someone who is naturally curious, receptive to feedback, and brings a positive attitude every day.
Responsibilities:
Research, set up interviews, and write content daily.
Collaborate with photojournalists, producers, assignment editors, and managers to execute story assignments.
Effectively deliver breaking news live on-air, without a script.
Shoot and edit stories as needed.
Fill-in anchor as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of reporting experience preferred. Candidates with demonstrated storytelling and journalism skills will also be considered.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Central Valley
Bilingual skills
Success creating engaging vertical videos for social media
Required Education
College Degree
The hiring range for this SAG-AFTRA role in Fresno, CA is $60,000 to $70,000 per year. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. The role also has potential for additional compensation for overtime and early morning/overnight shifts. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
