Job Overview
Unionville College is seeking a hands-on, versatile IT Specialist to join our Technology department. This is not a desk-bound network administration role, our ideal candidate splits their time between systems support and physical infrastructure work across our campus.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical support to students and staff, triaging and resolving day-to-day hardware, software, and network issues
Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and related systems
Get hands-on with technology infrastructure projects, including cabling, equipment mounting, and supporting technology work tied to construction and renovation projects alongside facilities staff and contractors
Support and maintain VOIP telecommunications systems
Assist with the deployment and upkeep of building systems technology, including security and monitoring infrastructure
Support cloud and on-premise server environments (Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra, VMware/Hyper-V, domain and print servers)
Manage user accounts and access in Active Directory in line with security requirements
Maintain documentation, inventory, and vendor/contractor coordination for technology projects
Contribute to the department's ongoing technology planning and refresh cycles
Qualifications and Experience:
A related university degree or diploma, with experience in networking and IT support
Comfort with physical, hands-on work alongside contractors and tradespeople as needed
Experience with or strong interest in learning VOIP systems and low-voltage infrastructure work (e.g., network/camera cabling)
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technology, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and related protocols
Experience with Windows and Mac OS X client/server administration and user identity management
