PRIMED Medical Products is seeking an IT Intern to join our team at head office in Edmonton, Alberta.
Your Day to Day:
The IT Intern role is a learning-focused opportunity designed to support application of technical knowledge gained through academic studies in a real-world business environment. Under the guidance of experienced IT professionals, the Intern will gain hands-on exposure to end-user support, IT operations, and common enterprise technologies while developing foundational skills in troubleshooting, customer service, and workplace collaboration.
Who You’ll Work With:
The IT Intern works closely with members of the Information Systems team and collaborates with internal employees to support day-to-day technology needs. The role involves regular interaction with end users for learning purposes, with oversight and escalation support provided by senior team members. External vendor interaction, if any, is limited and supervised.
What You’ll Do:
Provide first level, in-person and remote technical support to employees for common hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of laptops, monitors, peripherals, and mobile devices.
Support user account activities and access requests, following established procedures.
Learn and assist with ticket management by logging, updating, and tracking IT support requests.
Perform basic troubleshooting of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.).
Assist with routine checks of meeting room audio-visual equipment and provide basic support during meetings when required.
Participate in IT asset inventory activities, documentation, and equipment organization.
Observe and learn basic IT security practices and contribute to maintaining a secure computing & Infrastructure environment.
Assist with documentation, knowledge base updates, and simple process improvements.
Participate in training sessions, shadowing opportunities, and team meetings to build technical and professional skills.
Perform other related duties as required to support learning objectives and team needs.
Assist with other project work as needed.
Who You Are:
Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a diploma or degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Previous co-op, internship, or part-time technical experience is an asset but not required.
Proficient understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts.
Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 / Office 365 applications, particularly SharePoint and Teams; experience with SharePoint as an administrator, or with Power Platform is a plus.
Experience or interest in learning enterprise IT tools such as Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, and ticketing systems.
Experience with cloud computing, preferably Azure, and proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Introductory exposure to cloud computing (e.g., Azure), scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell or Python), Linux operating systems, or SQL concepts is considered an asset but not mandatory.
Strong willingness to learn and apply new technical skills.
Good problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Clear and professional communication skills when supporting end users.
Ability to follow instructions, document work, and ask questions when needed.
Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple learning tasks with guidance.
