About the team/business unit

Our Risk Consulting team offers internal audit, advisory and other assurance services to a wide range of organisations within the public social sector. Working in this sector allows you to support like-minded organisations who are passionate about making a difference in society. You will directly contribute to local communities and be involved with some of the biggest issues facing the sector. We help our clients gain clarity over their risk management processes, and control frameworks, providing recommendations for improvement where necessary.

You will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of clients within the public social sector. Our team provide internal audit and advisory services across the following six main sub-sectors:

Local Government
Education
Central Government
Housing
Police
Charities
About the role

In this role, you will provide proactive, high-quality and value-adding internal audit services to our Public Social Sector clients. You will play a crucial part in driving the team forward and growing our client base in the region through proactive business development and by supporting the training and growth of team members.

As the engagement manager for a portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing financial performance, and coordinating the day-to-day delivery of internal audit services - ensuring all work meets established quality standards and timelines.

What are we looking for?

Proven experience in delivering internal audit services within the Public Social sector.
Experience in co-ordinating and supporting the development of the Internal Audit Strategy and Annual Plan, and monitoring its delivery once agreed, including scheduling, resourcing, and managing any specialist teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and presentation abilities.
Experience of managing, training and coaching staff, sharing expertise, offering meaningful feedback and proactively supporting the development of others.
Proficient in engagement planning and performance of fieldwork including liaison with auditees, preparing Terms of Reference briefing any other team members, as well as feedback meetings with auditees.
Holds CCAB qualification (i.e.) ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA or CII) or equivalent.
