Information Systems Specialist I $26.43 - $33.75
Information Systems Specialist II $28.91 - $36.92
Information Systems Specialist III $31.61 - $40.38
Information Systems Specialist IV $34.24 - $43.72

Information Systems Specialist I
Under general supervision, to assist with development of computerized information systems for all County departments or with an assigned County department; to maintain database systems; to assist with integration of database systems with other information systems; to facilitate and assist with the development of computer networks within the County and other entities; to provide support and training for other personnel on the use of databases, computer networks, and information systems; and to do related work as required. This classification is a for cause, non-exempt position.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the entry and first working level in the Information Systems Specialist class series. Incumbents perform basic computerized information system and computer network development and maintenance work with some guidance and supervision. This class is distinguished from Information Systems Specialist II in that Information Systems Specialist II is the journey level with incumbents performing a broader range of assignments under less supervision. Incumbents in this class may be routinely promoted to Information Systems Specialist II if they demonstrate continued advancement and development of skills and knowledge in working with department and County information systems and networks. Positions are generally allocated in this series based on the complexity of the computerized information systems and networks which they develop and regularly maintain, as well as the level of incumbent skills and knowledge. This classification may be flexibly staffed, if allocated to the hiring department as flexibly staffed.

Information Systems Specialist II
Under general direction, to be responsible for computerized information systems with an assigned County department; to develop, manage, and maintain database systems; to integrate database systems with other information systems; to facilitate and assist with the development of computer networks within the County and other entities; to provide support and training for other personnel on the use of databases, computer networks, and information systems; and to do related work as required. This classification is a for cause, non-exempt position.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the journey level in the Information Systems Specialist class series. Incumbents perform a variety of complex computerized information system and computer network development and maintenance work with minimal guidance and supervision. This class is distinguished from Information Systems Specialist I in that Information Systems Specialist I is the entry and first working level with incumbents performing a narrower range of assignments under closer supervision. This class is distinguished from Information Systems Specialist III in that Information Systems Specialist III is the advanced journey level with incumbents being given the most complex work assignments and responsibility for regularly working with external on-line systems, as well as County information systems and networks. Positions are generally allocated in this series based on the complexity of the computerized information systems and networks which they develop and regularly maintain, as well as the level of incumbent skills and knowledge. This classification may be flexibly staffed, if allocated to the hiring department as flexibly staffed.

Information Systems Specialist III

Under general direction, to be responsible for computerized information systems for the County and/or assigned department; to serve as the primary resource for all County department management or assigned department management on the use and development of data processing equipment and software; to develop, manage, and maintain database systems and on-line information systems; to integrate database systems with other information systems; to facilitate and assist with the development of computer networks within the County and other entities; to provide support and training for other personnel on the use of databases, computer networks, and information systems; and to do related work as required. This classification is a for cause, non-exempt position.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the advanced journey level in the Information Systems Specialist class series. Incumbents perform a variety of complex computerized information system and computer network development and maintenance work with minimal guidance and supervision. In addition, they are responsible for integration of County data processing services with external, on-line systems and serving as the primary resource for all county or assigned department's management on the utilization and development of data processing equipment and software. This class is distinguished from Information Systems Specialist II by the performance of a broader range of more complex work, including a higher level of responsibility for working with external on-line systems, and exercising a higher level of authority in serving as the County and/or assigned department's primary data processing resource. Positions are generally allocated in this series based on the complexity of the computerized information systems and networks which they develop and regularly maintain, as well as the level of incumbent skills and knowledge. This classification may be flexibly staffed, if allocated to the hiring department as flexibly staffed.
