HR Manager — People & Operations
Job Description
About the Role
Electronikmedia is a bootstrapped IT services company delivering AI solutions, software development, and QA/testing services to international clients across the US, UK, and EU. With a 70+-member team across pods and a fast-growing client base, we need an HR Manager who can run the full people function — not just processes, but strategy.
This role owns everything from hiring and compliance to culture and performance. You'll work directly with the CEO and report to leadership with full autonomy over the HR function.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
• Own end-to-end recruitment for technical and non-technical roles — software developers, QA engineers, AI specialists, and business functions
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline through job boards, LinkedIn, referrals, and campus connections
• Partner with Delivery Heads and Pod Leads on headcount planning and skill gap analysis
• Drive retention strategies — identify flight risks early and act
HR Operations & Compliance
• Manage the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, confirmations, transfers, exits
• Ensure compliance with Indian labour laws, PF, ESI, Shops & Establishments Act (Kerala), and IT/ITES regulations
• Maintain accurate HRIS records, headcount reports, and statutory filings
• Own payroll coordination with Finance — inputs, deductions, full & final settlements
Performance & Development
• Run biannual appraisal cycles end-to-end — goal setting, mid-year reviews, ratings calibration
• Design and track individual development plans in partnership with team leads
• Build and execute L&D programs — technical upskilling, soft skills, leadership pipeline
• Manage PIP processes with fairness and documentation discipline
Culture & Employee Engagement
• Drive engagement initiatives — pulse surveys, team events, recognition programs
• Handle grievances promptly and with confidentiality; be the go-to person employees trust
• Build an inclusive, high-performance culture consistent with a remote-first, globally-serving team
Policy & Org Development
• Own the HR policy framework — attendance, leave, conduct, performance, remote work
• Partner with the CEO on org design, role restructuring, and succession planning
• Lead change communication during restructuring, team changes, or new initiatives
• Requirements
Must-Have
• 5–10 years of HR experience, with at least 4 years in an IT services, software product, or tech company
• Hands-on experience running recruitment for software engineering roles (you should know the difference between a frontend dev and a DevOps engineer)
• Strong working knowledge of Kerala/India labour law and statutory compliance
• Experience managing performance cycles and handling complex employee relations situations
• Proficiency in English; Malayalam is a strong advantage for local team management
Good to Have
• Experience with HRIS platforms (GreytHR )
• Exposure to remote/hybrid team management across time zones
• Prior experience in a bootstrapped or founder-led company — you'll thrive here if you're used to building, not just maintaining
What Success Looks Like
Timeline Expectation
30 Days Audited current HR records, understood org structure and open roles, identified quick wins 90 Days Running recruitment independently, appraisal cycle underway, compliance gaps closed
6 Months Full HR ops running smoothly
