About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:
Join Hawke's Bay Regional Council as our HR Coordinator and play a key role in delivering efficient, high-quality HR services across the organisation. This varied role supports the full employee lifecycle, contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, and helps deliver an exceptional employee experience through effective coordination, administration and people-focused support.

In this dynamic role, you will:

Coordinate the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding.
Provide high-quality HR administration, maintaining employee records, documentation and HR systems.
Support the implementation, administration and continuous improvement of our Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
Coordinate learning and development programmes, inductions and training activities.
Support employee engagement initiatives and internal HR communications.
Manage the HR inbox and provide first-line advice and support to managers and employees.
Prepare HR reports, maintain workforce data and support compliance with employment legislation and organisational policies.
Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance HR services and the employee experience.

As a key member of the HR team, you’ll help ensure seamless operations, build strong relationships, and foster a positive workplace culture. You’re an experienced and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in coordinating and supporting HR functions. Your understanding of recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and HR administration allows you to handle the demands of a busy and dynamic team environment with confidence.

To be successful in this role you will have:

A tertiary qualification (or currently studying towards one) in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Demonstrated experience in learning and development coordination
Exceptional attention to detail and high-quality standards
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Word, Outlook, and Excel
Strong organisational and time-management capabilities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience maintaining confidential information with utmost discretion
A collaborative approach and strong customer service focus
Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Knowledge of HRIS systems
Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to incorporating Te Reo Māori in appropriate settings

What we offer | Nga huanga mōu:
The salary range for this role is between $66,130 to $77,800 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. This is a high-performing and motivated team of professionals that you will be joining, offering an opportunity to experience working within local government.
