Job Title: Head of Engineering – Mobile Wallet Platform
Location: India (Relocation to Dubai, UAE)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: 42,000 AED per month (Tax-Free)
About the Role
Our client, a leading Dubai-based fintech, is looking for a Head of Engineering to lead the end-to-end technology function for its next-generation mobile wallet platform. This senior leadership role will drive the engineering vision, build scalable systems, and ensure platform resilience, performance, and security in a high-growth financial services environment.
You’ll work closely with product, design, compliance, and operations teams to deliver seamless, secure, and user-friendly wallet experiences across diverse markets.
This is a rare opportunity for a visionary engineering leader based in India to step into a global leadership role, with relocation fully supported to Dubai.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Platform Leadership
• Define and execute the engineering vision and technical roadmap for the mobile wallet platform.
• Lead development of core services including wallet infrastructure, KYC flows, payment processing, ledger systems, and integrations with banks or PSPs.
• Drive high system availability (++.+%+), performance, fault tolerance, and observability.
• Set standards for secure coding, API design, scalability, and system architecture.
People & Team Leadership
• Lead and grow a multi-disciplinary engineering team across backend, frontend, and mobile.
• Mentor Engineering Managers, Architects, and Senior ICs.
• Build a strong, distributed engineering culture based on excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
• Define career paths, hiring plans, and support growth through coaching and performance reviews.
Product & Delivery Execution
• Partner with product leaders to translate roadmaps into scalable, timely delivery plans.
• Oversee delivery of key wallet features: onboarding/KYC, top-ups, P2P transfers, bill payments, loyalty/rewards.
• Monitor delivery metrics: velocity, stability, incident recovery, and bug rates.
• Drive agile execution and iterative delivery across teams.
Security, Compliance & Operational Readiness
• Collaborate with compliance and security teams to meet regulatory and data privacy requirements.
• Ensure platform supports auditing, logging, incident response, and monitoring best practices.
• Drive DevOps excellence and infrastructure maturity for frequent, reliable deployments.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Stakeholder Management
• Represent engineering in leadership forums and contribute to company-wide OKRs and roadmap alignment.
• Collaborate with teams across product, legal, finance, growth, and customer support.
• Champion a balance of business agility and technical rigor.
What You’ll Need
• 10+ years of engineering experience, with 3–5+ years in engineering leadership roles.
• Proven experience in fintech, mobile-first platforms, wallets, or transactional systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, secure API design, ledgering, and real-time payments.
• Familiarity with KYC, AML, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Deep experience scaling engineering orgs and leading high-performance teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholders.
Nice to Have
• Experience with emerging markets or low-trust digital environments.
• Exposure to modular wallet infrastructure and payment rails.
• Previous work in fast-paced, venture-backed fintechs or scale-ups.
