Description:
We are looking for a seasoned and business-oriented legal leader to build and lead the legal, governance, and compliance function for a high-growth organization. The role requires someone who can operate as a strategic partner to the leadership team while also driving day-to-day legal execution across commercial, corporate, regulatory, and governance matters.
The ideal candidate should be capable of building scalable legal and governance frameworks, handling day-to-day legal matters (including commercial contracts and legal implications of business decisions), and partnering closely with finance, CS, and tax teams on strategic and operational matters including ESG/governance, shareholder agreements, fundraising, restructuring, and M&A transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the end-to-end legal, governance, and compliance function for the organization
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage all commercial contracts, vendor agreements, partnership agreements, technology agreements, and customer documentation
- Advise leadership and business teams on legal implications of strategic and operational decisions
- Drive corporate governance, compliance, ESG, and regulatory frameworks across the organization
- Support fundraising, shareholder matters, board governance, ESOPs, shareholder agreements, and M&A/legal due diligence processes
- Work closely with finance, tax, CS, HR, and business teams to ensure legally compliant and scalable business operations
- Build internal legal processes, SOPs, risk management frameworks, and contract management systems
- Oversee litigation strategy and manage external counsels
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and data privacy standards
- Partner with leadership on organizational structuring, expansion initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies
Ideal Profile:
- LLB + CS 10 - 18 years of experience from -tier law firms background and/or in-house legal leadership roles
- Candidates with experience from reputed law firms such as Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Khaitan & Co, or similar top-tier firm and then working with high-growth startups, consumer, tech, logistics, manufacturing, or regulated businesses preferred
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Proven experience in building legal functions and scalable compliance frameworks
