We are looking for a dedicated and competent Gastro Technician to support our Gastroenterology team in delivering safe and efficient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist gastroenterologists during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as Upper GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, and other gastroenterology procedures.
- Prepare the endoscopy room, instruments, and equipment before each procedure.
- Ensure proper sterilization, cleaning, disinfection, and maintenance of endoscopes and accessories as per infection control protocols.
- Check the functionality of endoscopy equipment and promptly report any technical issues.
- Prepare patients before procedures and provide necessary instructions and reassurance.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety during procedures under the supervision of the consultant.
- Assist in specimen collection, labeling, and transportation to the laboratory.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, equipment usage, sterilization logs, and patient documentation.
- Ensure adequate stock of consumables and coordinate with the stores department for timely replenishment.
- Follow biomedical waste management and hospital infection control guidelines.
- Assist in emergency situations related to endoscopic procedures.
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and professional ethics at all times.
Eligibility
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Operation Theatre Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Endoscopy Technology, or a related allied health discipline.
- Certification or training in Gastro/Endoscopy Technology will be preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in a hospital gastroenterology or endoscopy unit is preferred. Freshers with appropriate training may also apply.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of gastroenterology and endoscopy procedures.
- Understanding of sterilization and infection control protocols.
- Ability to handle endoscopy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observation and attention to detail.
