Fuel Office Technician
Job Description
Manage the performance, deployment, configuration and lifecycle performance of municipal and transit fleet Vehicle Onboard Diagnostics such as CANcievers and AIM. This includes meter corrections, firmware loads, troubleshooting and working with other groups and vendors for continuous improvements
Manage the Fuel Service After Hours Program to ensure the effectiveness of the program and provide continuous improvements and support
Provide support in various financial processes including the creation of purchase orders, goods receiving, inventory management, and supporting the transition to Enterprise Commons
Prepare technical studies on several subjects, including alternative fuels, and provide technical support to City personnel which may include supporting curriculum development
Serve as a core technical SME for capital projects and explore opportunities to identify strategic opportunities for modernizing, capacity expansion and technology integration of the existing fueling infrastructure
Ensure that all the regulatory requirements of ENVISO, fire codes and the City’s safety standards are being followed and ensure that all the fueling infrastructure is audit and inspection-ready
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
Completion of a two (2) year Engineering Technology diploma in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
Minimum of five (5) years of experience related to the work assigned (fuel management maintenance and inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repair of equipment in an industrial or construction environment preferred)
Membership or eligibility for membership with ASET as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)
Assets:
Completion of a Project Management certificate
Experience in diagnostic analysis of vehicle fluids and making recommendations
Canadian Petroleum Contractors Association Certifications (PMH, PM1, PM3) or similar would be an asset
Skills required for success:
Knowledge of applicable policies, standards and regulations pertaining to fuel, equipment, vehicles and services
Experience in the development of Requests For Proposal (RFP) and the tendering process
Ability to meet and deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders, such as shop staff, forepersons, supervisors, direct reports, suppliers, vendors, and equipment manufacturers
Ability to plan and organize work activities and to meet set deadlines
Ability to create a work culture capable of developing a high-performing team
Experience managing and working with contractors and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with precision and accuracy
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and diagrams and to design modifications and attachments
Experience with M5 and SAP is considered an asset
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)

Conditions of Employment:
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). A valid Class 3 license with airbrake (Q) endorsement is an asset. Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
