Financial Assurance & Levy Officer - Environmental & Waste

A statutory authority responsible for protecting the environment. You'll work in the Regulatory Services division based in Melbourne.

Your new role

Reporting to the Team Leader, Financial Assurance and Levies, you'll:

Implement the organisation's financial assurance framework and waste levy system, applying technical skills to undertake assessments and make timely decisions on financial assurance and levies, ensuring compliance with all legislative and policy requirements
Liaise with other parts of the organisation in ensuring decisions on financial assurance and levies are informed and risk-based; maintain good records of decisions
Support inspections, investigations, and enforcement action by providing information on where potential breaches of environmental laws have occurred

What you'll need to succeed

As well as relevant tertiary degrees or qualifications in environmental science, engineering, waste management or related fields. You'll have:

Experience as a regulator and knowledge of financial assurance and levies is desirable.
Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes
Management skills and demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver projects / programs consistent with organisational priorities, including risk identification and management, budget development and management; optimise the allocation and use of resources; and evaluate project / program effectiveness
