Job Description
One of Chennai’s fastest growing tech startups, with its head office in Chicago, is looking for an Associate to join the Finance team at FourKites. This role will report directly to the Associate Manager of Finance. The Associate will support general accounting functions including but not limited to accounts payable, preparation of journal entries, supporting financial systems, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. This position will play an important role to ensure compliance with US generally accepted accounting principles This new team member will be a self-starter, nimble in an ever-changing environment and able to learn and to perform at a high level in a general accounting role of an entrepreneurial company.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, purchase orders, invoices, etc.
• Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
• Payments to vendors based on credit terms & respond to all vendor payments related queries.
• Expertise in handling employee expenses management through Expensify platform
• Timely bank reconciliations, by posting AP related bank entries
• Calculate, post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
• Recommend process efficiencies and participate in improvements
• Collaborate with team members in US & India
• Ad hoc projects
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
• 1-3 years of relevant experience is preferred
• Prior Experience in Accounts Payable is a plus
• Hands on knowledge on US GAAP
• Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, strong communication skills, both written and oral
• Attention to detail, ability to learn, and be nimble in a rapidly changing environment
• Proficiency with Excel
• Proficiency with Intacct or similar system
• Ability to pivot priorities with minimal notice
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and work well in a fast-paced team environment
• Self-starter attitude with advanced time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with subscription-based billing, such as with a SaaS company is a plus
• Self-motivated to work independently with minimal supervision and comfortable within cross-border team environment
