Zurich is excited to welcome an experienced Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter for Excess Casualty to our thriving Construction team! This role can be based in our Atlanta, GA or Addison, TX office with the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. You will collaborate with your manager to create a work schedule that meets your needs, as well as those of our customers and partners. Participating actively in the marketplace is essential, requiring a presence in the office and field for three days each week.
The perfect candidate will have a solid background in Excess Casualty and/or Construction.
In this Market Facing Underwriting position, you can expect:
• To cultivate and sustain meaningful relationships with broker partners and clients within the Construction sector to meet business goals.
• To utilize your expertise in casualty underwriting for risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to build and maintain a profitable portfolio of new and renewal business.
• To collaborate with various business units, including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting, while expanding your knowledge in a dynamic industry.
• To be empowered in using your interpersonal and negotiation skills to enhance relationships with valued distribution partners in your assigned territory.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Underwriting and pricing a robust renewal portfolio.
• Identifying and analyzing new business growth opportunities.
• Ensuring accounts are qualified, align with the organization’s risk appetite, and present solid business prospects.
• Making agent, broker, and customer visits with well-prepared objectives.
• Overseeing negotiations regarding terms and conditions and successfully closing deals.
• Encouraging cross-selling within your areas of responsibility to enhance product density with Zurich’s clientele.
This position can be filled at either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, with the hiring manager determining the suitable level based on the applicant's experience and skill set.
Underwriting Specialist - Excess Casualty Basic Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and at least 3 years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles. OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support. OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and at least 1 year of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles. OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Executive Underwriter - Excess Casualty Basic Requirements:
• High School Diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 5 years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles. OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support. OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and at least 3 years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles. OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8 or more years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
All candidates should possess:
• Knowledge of the relevant lines of business along with legal and regulatory guidelines.
• Understanding of time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Your compensation at Zurich reflects your role, location, skills, and experience. The pay range shown represents a national average and may vary by location. The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 - $165,000.00; with the Underwriting Specialist range from $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 (10% short-term incentive bonus eligibility) and for the Executive Underwriter - Excess Casualty, $100,000.00-$165,000.00 (30% Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus eligibility).
