About the Role:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, execution, and performance of Maverick Power’s mechanical and electrical engineering teams. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this role translates strategic objectives into operational execution, ensuring engineering deliverables are accurate, manufacturable, compliant, and released on schedule.
The Engineering Manager directly manages Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering while partnering closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, R&D and project management to meet business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide senior technical leadership across electrical and mechanical design of low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards, ensuring system-level performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance
Lead end-to-end product development for switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards, coordinating electrical design, mechanical layout, thermal performance, and structural integrity from concept through production release
Establish and maintain engineering standards, design guidelines, revision controls, and best practices across electrical and mechanical disciplines
Drive project schedules, define engineering milestones, manage technical risk, and ensure on-time delivery of engineering deliverables
Lead and participate in cross-functional design reviews, ensuring alignment between engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project management
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards including UL, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and CSA
Partner with manufacturing engineering to support design-for-manufacturability (DFM), cost optimization, and scalable production of switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards
Oversee and technically direct contract and third-party engineering resources, ensuring external designs meet internal standards, schedules, quality expectations, and regulatory requirements
Support supply chain activities including component selection, vendor technical reviews, and qualification of electrical and mechanical components
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues encountered during design, fabrication, testing, commissioning, and field operation
Mentor and guide engineers across disciplines by reviewing drawings, calculations, schedules, and technical documentation
Participate in performance reviews, provide ongoing coaching, and contribute to individual development plans for engineers and technical staff, supporting skill growth and succession planning
Support customer-facing technical discussions, applications engineering, and resolution of complex or custom project requirements
Drive continuous improvement in product design, engineering processes, and development schedules based on lessons learned and field feedback
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in electrical distribution or industrial manufacturing.
Minimum of 5 years' leading engineering teams in a manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of UL, NEC, IEEE/ANSI, and safety standards.
Experience supporting manufacturing with drawings, BOMs, and testing documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong SolidWorks expertise in industrial or electrical equipment design.
ERP experience in engineer-to-order or configure-to-order environments.
Background in switchgear, panelboards, or critical power equipment.
Experience driving operational improvements in engineering execution.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to twenty-five pounds at times.
Work Environment:
May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
