Position OverviewThe Engineering Executive - Facilities is a senior technical leadership role responsible for overseeing facility engineering operations, maintenance programs, and building systems performance across assigned portfolio(s). This position ensures optimal building performance, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction through strategic planning and technical expertise.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Operations Leadership Provides strategic direction and oversight for all facility engineering operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and building automation systems. Develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and lifecycle performance. Ensures 24/7 operational readiness of critical building systems.
Team Management and Development Leads, mentors, and develops engineering teams including chief engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff. Conducts performance evaluations, training needs assessments, and succession planning. Fosters culture of technical excellence, safety consciousness, and continuous improvement.
Capital Planning and Asset Management Develops multi-year capital improvement plans based on equipment condition assessments and lifecycle analysis. Manages capital project budgets from planning through execution. Provides technical due diligence for property acquisitions and major renovations. Recommends strategic investments to optimize asset value and performance.
Client and Stakeholder Management Serves as primary technical liaison for client facilities requirements and strategic initiatives. Presents engineering reports, performance metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership. Collaborates with property management, leasing, and project teams to support business objectives. Builds strong relationships to understand and exceed client expectations.
Budget and Financial Management Develops and manages annual operating budgets for engineering operations across portfolio. Analyzes utility consumption patterns and implements energy conservation measures. Identifies cost reduction opportunities while maintaining service quality standards. Tracks financial performance against budget targets and provides variance analysis.
Compliance and Risk Management Ensures compliance with all applicable building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards. Maintains required certifications, permits, and inspections for building systems and equipment. Develops emergency response protocols and business continuity plans. Conducts risk assessments and implements mitigation strategies.
Technology and Innovation Evaluates and implements building technology solutions including BMS upgrades, IoT sensors, and predictive maintenance platforms. Drives sustainability initiatives and ESG performance improvements. Stays current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
Vendor and Contract Management Negotiates and manages service contracts with MEP contractors, equipment vendors, and specialty service providers. Conducts vendor performance evaluations and holds providers accountable to SLA requirements. Develops strategic partnerships to ensure quality service delivery.
