Salary: $60,000 – $80,000 per year (based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Electrical & Electronics Test and Automation Systems Designer to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, documenting, and validating custom test and automation systems for deployment at client manufacturing facilities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in electrical system design, PCB interface development, schematic creation, system validation, and on-site implementation, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Development
Review customer test specifications and define test strategies according to internal development processes
Design electrical and electronic subsystems, including circuits, pneumatic controls, measurement instruments, and cabling
Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout documentation using SolidWorks / SolidWorks Electrical
Design electronic interface and control PCBs for client product testing
Component Selection & Documentation
Select components based on performance, cost, reliability, and availability
Prepare technical documentation, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and detailed design reports
Ensure design documentation is accurate and up to date
Testing, Validation & Compliance
Perform simulations, system testing, debugging, and validation of electrical designs
Utilize testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and certifications (CSA SPE-1000, UL, CE, etc.)
Apply knowledge of power electronics, signal integrity, and EMC/EMI principles
Collaboration & Installation
Work closely with mechanical designers, software developers, and project managers
Support on-site installations and provide ongoing technical and warranty support at client manufacturing facilities
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and design reviews
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
Proven experience in electrical and electronics system design
Proficiency with CAD and EDA tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, KiCad)
Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design
Ability to read, interpret, and create technical schematics and drawings
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with SolidWorks Electrical
PCB design and layout experience
Experience with NI instruments and related software
Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet)
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA principles
Exposure to industry standards and regulatory compliance processes
Soft Skills

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning
Required Conditions
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Work Environment
Primarily in-office and assembly lab setting
Occasional travel for on-site installation and support at client manufacturing facilities
