The Senior Legal Adviser plays a crucial role in the Regulatory Legal team, providing expert advice and support to Comcare's regulatory activities under the federal Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal support to investigations, inspections, and other regulatory activities conducted under the WHS Act.
Assist with the conduct of prosecutions commenced under the Act.
Offer mentoring, support, and supervision to junior team members.
The Senior Legal Adviser will work closely with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions and Inspectors to ensure effective prosecution processes. They will also identify trends and capability opportunities for inspectors, contributing to continuous improvement projects within the team.
Requirements
Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory (five years or more post-admission experience is desirable).
Current restricted practicing Certificate or ability to obtain one within three months.
Experience in providing investigation support and conducting prosecutions in a criminal law or regulatory environment will be highly regarded.

Six months probationary period for new engagements.
