Software Development –Programmer – Job Description
The SD – Programmer is expected to be engaged in all phases of the software development
lifecycle which include: gathering and analyzing user/business system requirements, responding
to outages and creating application system models. S/he would also be required to participate in
design meetings and consult with clients to refine, test and debug programs to meet business
needs and interact and sometimes direct third party partners in the achievement of business and
technology initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Technical Responsibilities
• Keep abreast with the Technologies and Development Methodologies in force in
SARCO from time to time
• Actively participate in Development Methodologies / Frameworks such as Agile /
Scrum etc, which the Management may decide to adopt from time to time
• Actively participate in Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions whenever required. Active
participation herein includes a thorough prior study of the Functional and Technical
aspects of the areas included in the KT session
• Provide inputs with reference to coding platforms and methodologies, including for
reporting, during the KT sessions
• Ensure that the requirements for the Module being developed are fully understood,
documented and approved prior to commencement of coding
• Develop and Maintain adequate Software Documentation as per SARCO Standards in
force from time to time
• Develop, test and implement new software programs, while adhering to the time
deadlines set for each individual assignment
• Design and update software database. This includes, but is not limited to: Software
Applications, Web Sites, Data Communication Processes and User Interfaces
• Test, maintain and recommend software improvements to ensure strong
functionality and optimization
• Submit codes for Code Reviews as per the policies in force from time to time
• Independently install, customize and integrate commercial software packages
• Other Responsibilities
• Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support
colleagues
• Facilitate root cause analysis of system issues
• Work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues,
review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing
• Identify ideas to improve system performance and impact availability
• Analyze user requirements and convert requirements to design documents
• Provide comprehensive support to internal customers; achieve resolution to
outstanding problems or issues
• Compile timely, comprehensive and accurate documentation and or reports as
requested
• Possess up-to-date knowledge of technological developments in the industry
• Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with
internal and external customers
• Possess strong problem solving and decision making skills while using good judgment
• Multi-task and change from one task to another without loss of efficiency or
composure

• Min 2 year experience in hands on development, including Web Technologies
• Preferably having worked in Business Applications Development
• Experience in Database Management would be a bonus
• Hands-on knowledge of .NET platform is a must. Proficiency in PHP will be a significant
advantage
