Job Description
The initial areas of focus include the continued development and implementation of the Health of Older Adult SHN. As the organizational structure for the SHNs continues to be evaluated and developed, the specific accountabilities for this position is subject to change or expand to other areas.
The SHN Director works in a peer supported environment with other SHN Directors and Support team, including evaluation consultants, data analysts, planning and performance managers, and quality improvement managers. Working in dyad partnership with a Medical Director, the incumbent collaborates with Provincial Health Systems, zones, provincial programs, patient partners and external partners to advance Health Accord NL priorities through population need, evidence, and lived experience.
The SHN Director thinks provincially, focused on whole-system outcomes, while building consensus and aligning diverse partners. The director will co-design solutions with zone and program leaders, building shared ownership and standardizing best practice while allowing local flexibility.
The Director of the SHN(s) will lead network establishment, ensure inclusive membership, set priorities, and identify key initiatives that strengthen standards, consistency, and reduce practice variation across zones.
The incumbent is accountable for planning, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned SHN priorities. With a provincial scope, the role advances strategy, improvement, knowledge translation, and implementation to support measurable and sustainable clinical and operational outcomes.
The Director SHN(s) – will have responsibility for areas that include:
Operational and Strategic Planning: Supports NLHS strategic and operational goals through system-level SHN planning, collaborating with zone and provincial leaders to advance seamless, high-quality, sustainable service delivery.
Network Operationalization: Leads SHN operations and develops provincial plans that use evidence-based practice and innovation to support standards, implementation, evaluation, and compliance.
Financial Stewardship and Accountability: Demonstrates fiscal responsibility through sound business planning and financial analysis, while recognizing that direct service delivery resources remain managed within the zones.
Visible Leadership, Partnership and Relationships: Builds strategic partnerships and connects stakeholders, knowledge, and resources to achieve shared objectives and support effective communication.
Data Analysis, Visualization, and Dissemination: Leads data capture, analysis, visualization, and dissemination to inform change, support the Learning Health and Social System, and monitor SHN performance indicators.
Quality Improvement (QI), Knowledge Translation (KT), and Implementation: Provides leadership for QI, KT, and implementation activities, working with Quality, Planning and Performance and partners to advance SHN priorities.
