Primary Purpose:

The South Australian Country Fire Service (SACFS) is a community-based fire and emergency service dedicated to protecting life, property, and environmental assets in rural and semi-urban South Australia. SACFS is a statutory authority reporting to the Minister for Emergency Services. The SACFS consists of approximately 13,500 volunteers and 180 Career Staff. SACFS provides operational support capabilities and personnel to local, interstate and international incidents.

The SACFS offers a unique opportunity for its paid workforce to support SACFS volunteers in the delivery of emergency services to the community, by providing emergency support for frontline operations and incident management functions. These functions may require staff to be located at the State Commander Centre, Regional Command Centre(s), Incident Control Centre(s) or field-based command points. Frontline operations include the attendance at bushfires, structure fires, hazardous materials incidents, road crash rescues and many other emergency incident types.

The SACFS currently has dual opportunities available in the permanent roles of Director Regional Operations, East, and Director Regional Operations, West.

The roles will lead the provision of services and operations in their respective regions of South Australia. The roles works closely and collaboratively to ensure State-wide alignment and consistency. Accountable to the Executive Director, Frontline Operations, the roles provide high-level strategic advice on issues relating to the delivery of statewide regional services and operations.

The Directors will actively lead, manage, monitor and report on the performance of regional services and operations against budget, SACFS strategic objectives and key performance indicators, and provide advice on the effectiveness and future delivery of SACFS regional services and operations.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake an incident management or emergency support role, via a defined on-call roster, with the potential to be re-called under emergency situations, to enable the provision of emergency service activities by SACFS to the community. Whilst undertaking such operational roles, personnel will be required to work in emergency situations, which may include day, afternoon, night, or extended shifts.

Essential Qualifications:

Appropriate tertiary qualification (degree level) in related discipline or equivalent extensive experience.

Remuneration:
MAS3 - $127,85+

Special Conditions:
Engagement will be subject to a satisfactory Emergency Services Sector Criminal History Check and working with Children Check.
