Based in our Cromwell office
Fantastic opportunity for someone who live in the surrounding Otago areas and are willing to commute.
As a member of the Ministry of Education's Otago/Southland Curriculum Advisory Team, you will be based in Cromwell supporting schools, kura and early learning services to deliver high-quality teaching and learning programmes based on the NZ Curriculum. Ideally this Advisory role has a specific focus on primary education settings.

As a Curriculum Advisor, you will provide advice to leadership teams, teachers and kaiako on implementing the new NZ curriculum, assessment and aromatawai changes, taking a whole school approach.

We are seeking a Curriculum Advisor with proven experience in leading whole school curriculum and assessment change, along with a strong background and understanding of the science of learning and relevant pedagogies and assessment and aromatawai practices.

You will be part of a regional team using the Curriculum Advisory Service to:

Support schools, kura and early learning services to implement the NZ curriculum, by using effective pedagogical practices that improve learning outcomes for all learners
Deliver support aligned to local needs and national, government priorities, using targeted and tailored implementation supports.
Supporting professional learning to develop pedagogical content knowledge.
Build collaborative networks within communities and actively share good practice
Salary range: $100,296 - $121,490 per annum + kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mohou ake

To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following experience, capabilities and competencies:

Strong curriculum delivery expertise, knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and recent practical experience in school is essential. Knowledge and experience from primary education settings will be an added advantage.
Deep understanding of the science of learning and the effective teaching practices that are needed to enact the knowledge rich curriculum to achieve positive outcomes for all learners.
Strong, proven expertise in whole school curriculum planning and delivery that supports consistency of teaching and learning with the ability to support professional change in education settings.
Deep pedagogical knowledge, both the underlying expertise and the ability to build others knowledge. Please state your area of pedagogical expertise in your application.
Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships to drive change, using strong interpersonal, facilitation, and diplomacy skills. Skilled in leading, motivating, and coaching kaiako, teachers and leaders to build capability and implement change
Familiarity with te ao Maori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and matauranga Maori.
A full current NZ driver licence as travel will be required.
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Education Services Group provides well-designed, integrated education services that support the impactful and effective operation of education settings to support student achievement and participation. The services help to remove barriers to participation and learning and provide regulatory advice, support and oversight to early learning providers, schools and kura.

The Group has three key priorities for Education Services:

Practice Guidance: Managing practice and guidance to improve national coordination and consistency, whilst enabling regional autonomy for education service delivery.
Integration Delivery: Providing education support directly to education settings via integrated regional and national services. This includes intervening when necessary to ensure a high standard of operation to support student outcomes and owning key stakeholder relationships to support schooling improvement and stronger outcomes for learners.
Monitoring Improvement: Monitoring and advising on improvements to the effectiveness, efficiency and equity of services for achievement and progression, and attendance and participation. This includes monitoring education provider performance against regulations and intervening as required.
