The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and North West region is seeking a qualified individual to join our Rainy River detachment.
Note: During this selection process, candidates are required to undergo mandatory requirements of psychological evaluation, background investigation and security clearance check. Candidates who have successfully completed the psychological evaluation, background investigation and security clearance check will be invited to attend ten (10) weeks of in person training in Orillia. All mandatory requirements as listed must be completed prior to assignment to a team.

The Rainy River District Detachment Administrative Centre is located in Fort Frances and we have satellite detachments in the communities of Atikokan and Rainy River serving 10 municipalities and unorganized territory. A new detachment building opened in September of 2020 in Fort Frances. The District also has * First Nations communities that are policed by Treaty Three Police Service with which we enjoy an excellent working relationship and mutual support.
Highway 11 and Highway 71 are the main connecting links within the Rainy River District. There are two international Canadian/United States ports of entry located at Fort Frances and Rainy River connecting to their respective twin communities of International Falls and Baudette, Minnesota. The District of Rainy River has a population of approximately 18000 people, with the largest community being the Town of Fort Frances with 8500 citizens.
The Rainy River District has all the public and private services and facilities needed for you and your family to enjoy a high quality of life. Confederation College, Seven Generations Education, and primary and secondary schools, hospitals, medical clinics, community arenas, sports facilities for baseball, soccer and golf; including 4 area golf courses and a recreation centre in Fort Frances with 2 ice surfaces, indoor pool, squash courts and gym.
