Project Description

Gold Coast Light Rail has transformed public transport on the Gold Coast, helping create an integrated network that connects more people to more places in one of Australia's most dynamic and fastest growing cities.


John Holland is GoldlinQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.


Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, and the City of Gold Coast, this city-shaping project will link communities to business centres, shopping, dining, education and medical facilities and cater to the Gold Coast's expected population growth in the coming decades.


As construction of GCLR3 gets under way, John Holland is recruiting for a talented and driven Contracts Administrator with previous experience in a cost-reimbursable environment to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this iconic Gold Coast project.


About the role

Working with the broader commercial team, you’ll be responsible for assisting the preparation and negotiation with sub-contractors for the calling of quotations and letting of contracts and provide contract administration services to assist in the projects control of contract costs.


Responsibilities of the role include

Draft scopes of works and tender packages to accompany requests for quotations issued to subcontractors for projects
Conduct initial investigations with subcontractors to clarify the organisations conditions relating to contracts
Provide assistance to the Procurement Lead and Package Lead in the negotiation of contract departures
Maintain a register of all subcontractors
Ensure cost forecasting for allocated subcontracts and cost codes are accurately maintained
Participate in identification and quantification of Head Contracts
Manage subcontractors to ensure the Code compliance is maintained at all times
Regularly assess commercial and contractual risks

To be successful in this key role, you must have

Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Law, Commerce or Equivalent
3-5 years' experience working as a Contracts Administrator ideally with a Tier 1 Contractor
Intermediate/advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
A sound understanding of document control
