Permanent Role
As a Consultant Psychiatrist at Tamaki Oranga Recovery Centre, you will play a key role in the ongoing development of our state-of-the-art recovery programme for individuals with complex mental health needs.
Tamaki Oranga is a 20-bed residential facility located in South Auckland, serving men with persistent psychiatric disabilities from across New Zealand.
Our service has a strong focus on cultural responsiveness, particularly for Māori and Pacific populations, who make up over half of our service users.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a genuine commitment to improving mental health outcomes in our diverse community.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, working closely with nursing staff, psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists to deliver high-quality care.
Additionally, you will have opportunities for professional development through participation in Grand Rounds, peer review, continuing medical education, and quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development of our recovery programme, ensuring it meets the unique needs of our service users.
Work collaboratively with the leadership team to implement service goals and grow a workplace of excellence.
Support the implementation of equitable health systems and outcomes, promoting a strong team culture and function.
Participate in weekly Grand Rounds, peer review, continuing medical education, and quality improvement initiatives to maintain and enhance your clinical skills.
Requirements:
Vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of Psychiatry.
A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) is essential at commencement of employment.
