Community Support Worker (Whānau)
Job Description
Tararua Community Services is a trusted and valued part of the Tararua community. Guided by our commitment to Te Oranga Ake – Flourishing Together, we walk alongside individuals and whānau to strengthen wellbeing, connection and resilience.
As a Community Support Worker (Whānau), you’ll work alongside families and community members across the Tararua region, helping parents and caregivers develop the confidence, skills and support networks they need to enable Tamariki and whānau to thrive. You’ll connect whānau with services, programmes and opportunities that strengthen parenting skills and capability, enhance wellbeing and promote positive outcomes for tamariki.
This is rewarding, relationship-based mahi where you’ll empower whānau, advocate for their needs and build trusted connections that support stronger whānau and thriving communities.
This is a permanent role working 32 hours per week.
Ngā pūkenga me te wheako | Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A relevant qualification in education, health or social services (advantageous but not essential)
Experience working with whānau, tamariki or community-based services
A genuine passion for supporting whānau to raise thriving tamariki
Confidence working with whānau, community groups and partner agencies
An understanding of Te Ao Māori, with a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Strong communication, planning and organisational skills
A full, clean NZ driver licence

Tararua Community Services is part of Anglican Care Waiapu (ACW) – the social services arm of the Anglican Diocese of Waiapu. We provide a range of faith-based services to tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and older people across Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti, Hawke’s Bay and Tararua.
