Communicative Disorders Assistant
Job Description
We are looking to hire independent contractors as a Communicative Disorders Assistant to do in-home therapy and in office treatment within the GTA area under the supervision of a Speech and Language Pathologist.
The candidate needs to have flexible schedule as evenings and weekend work is required. 6 months minimum clinical experience required. However, we also welcome new grads, and we will train. Ideally the candidate has completed the Communicative Disorders Assistant program and likes to work with children. Additional languages are an asset.
The candidate will be required to provide direct one on one therapy sessions within the GTA. The candidate will schedule hours of work based on client convenience and will need to be able to drive to various locations including homes day cares, offices, and clinic.
Duties and Responsibilities of CDA/SLPA
- Provide therapy to clients of various ages (children, adults, and rehab patients) under supervision of Speech Language Pathologist.
- Work with clients from different backgrounds and specialized populations.
- Collaborate and consult with SLP and other practitioners.
- Create and develop therapy materials as needed.
- Provide families with resources, information, and home programs.
- Assist with parent and client workshops.
- Participate in continuing education classes and workshops to remain current.
Qualifications Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Graduate from an accredited Communicative Disorders Assistant Program.
- Member of CDAAC.
- Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are a MUST.
- Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
