Job Description
What you'll be doing:
We're looking for an Energy Analyst who can connect the dots between numbers, strategy and relationships.
This is a role for someone who enjoys diving into data, forecasting trends and uncovering insights, but who is equally comfortable presenting to stakeholders, influencing decisions and building trusted relationships across the business.
At Rockgas, you'll work at the heart of New Zealand's energy sector, helping ensure we have the right product, in the right place, at the right time. Your analysis and recommendations will directly support commercial decisions, supply strategies and business performance.
If you're naturally curious, commercially minded, confident communicating with senior stakeholders and passionate about turning complex information into clear business stories, we'd love to hear from you.
This isn't a back-office analyst position where you're buried in spreadsheets all day. You'll be at the centre of Rockgas' commercial decision-making, transforming complex market, supply and financial data into actionable insights that drive business performance. Working closely with leaders, suppliers and stakeholders, you'll forecast demand, identify risks and opportunities, influence strategy, and communicate your findings through compelling presentations, reports and recommendations. It's a unique opportunity to combine sharp analytical thinking, attention to detail and commercial acumen with strong relationship-building and communication skills.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with excellent interpersonal skills. You'll bring:
A degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Commerce or a related discipline
Experience in financial analysis, consulting, commercial advisory, accounting or a similar analytical role
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex datasets
Strong commercial acumen and a natural curiosity about how businesses operate
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
The confidence to present insights and recommendations to a wide range of audiences
The ability to influence and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels
Exceptional attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture
A proactive mindset and desire to continually learn and improve
Be comfortable operating in an environment with incomplete information and competing priorities, while exercising sound judgement and maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Experience within the energy sector is helpful but not essential. We're more interested in people who are commercially curious, highly analytical and excited by the opportunity to learn.
