Position Purpose
The candidate will work within a transversal Cloud team and be involved in ensuring there is no performance regression while migrating applications to the Cloud. Candidate will work closely with multiple teams, including Digital Channels, Infrastructure and other business applications and technology teams. Candidate will help delivery teams load test and troubleshoot performance issues and will contribute to define our performance testing process and tooling. candidate will train the various application teams on the subject of performance testing. This person will not be developing performance test scripts but will coach/guide existing performance testers in doing so.
Responsibilities
Direct Responsibilities
• Define and improve tooling to be used for performance testing/tuning/monitoring
• Contribute to performance testing governance and training
• Act as go-to person on performance within WM IT
• Design the performance testing strategy for the move-to-Cloud projects
• Review test plans of each application moved to Cloud
• Review test scripts developed by performance testers
• Review test results analyzed by performance testers and check validity of the tests
• Help or analyze performance issues and propose solutions
Contributing Responsibilities
• Collaborate with following roles:
• Tech leads/developers to understand the architecture of the applications/screens and analyze potential issues
• Performance Testers to review the test scripts and test results
• Test Leads to understand the test scenarios and End-to-End Tests
• Infra Team to understand the infrastructure capacity, monitoring
Technical & Behavioral Competencies
Mandatory
• Java and Spring technical expertise
• Strong critical thinker with problem solving aptitude
• Good expertise on SQL queries optimization
• Good understanding of caching mechanisms
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good understanding of performance testing strategies and load models
• Knowledge and experience of a load testing tool, preferably Jmeter
• Knowledge and experience of profiling/monitoring tools (system, application server, application)
• Knowledge and experience of analyzing performance issues across all the tiers (client, network, application, database)
• Knowledge and experience of a data generator tool to generate test data for load tests
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle and the integration of performance testing within it
Plus
• Experience with integrating performance testing in the CI
• Knowledge and expertise on Dynatrace (APM)
• Knowledge of ELK to define application performance dashboards
• Speaking at conferences and/or user groups
• Contributing to open source projects
• Knowledge of Agile methodology
Specific Qualifications (if required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or computer engineering
• 5+ years of experience in software development
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting and fixing performance issues
• 2+ years of experience performing load testing of Web applications
