· Follow and implement the YMCA Play to Learn Curriculum, which is a play-based curriculum. Through this curriculum, responsible to guide the children’s learning of literacy, numeracy, art, etc.
· Incorporate Physical Activity on a daily basis i.e. gym, outdoor play, swim time, etc.
· Ensure a constant presence with children in the program, engaging in activities with the youth and promoting safety first at all times.
· Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, families, and community providers working with families.
· Inform the Manager of Child Care of any program changes, problems, and any concerns immediately.
· Responsible for maintaining and following all New Brunswick Licensing Standards for child care centers. Review and understand each standard and comply with the necessary requirements. Cooperate with licensing coordinators when they visit your site to complete regular inspections.
· As per Licensing Standards, children are to spend a specified amount of time outside; responsible to ensure this is occurring daily.
· Responsible for following a schedule of activities for the children within your care. This position will also require creativity and following the children’s interests. Collaboration with fellow staff is highly encouraged.
· Maintaining all certifications required (including CPR/First Aid).
· Actively participates in scheduled programs, meetings and special events.
· In collaboration with individual program members, program volunteers and YMCA program staff, assists and encourages program members to access additional appropriate programs offered at this location.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our mission, vision and values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the association. Represents the YMCA and the association in a professional manner.
· Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
· Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.

· Workplace Standard First Aid.
· Willing to enroll or has/meets equivalent qualifications for +0 hour course.
· Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or Diploma or equivalent or enrolled.
· Previous experience working with children is an asset.
· Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification is an asset.
· Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication (verbal written) with members, staff and volunteers.
· Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
