We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Café Assistant to join our Food & Beverage team at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves Visitor Centre.
About the role:
As a permanent part-time Café Assistant, you’ll help deliver a high-quality food and beverage experience for our visitors. You’ll support the team with customer service, food preparation, café presentation, cleaning, and day-to-day operations to ensure every guest receives a warm, efficient, and memorable experience.
What you’ll be doing:
Providing friendly, helpful, and professional service to visitors.
Preparing and presenting food and beverages to a high standard.
Keeping the café, restaurant, counters, tables, and equipment clean and well presented.
Using the point-of-sale system, EFTPOS processes accurately.
Restocking fridges and supplies using stock rotation practices.
Following food safety, health and safety, and company policies and procedures.
Contributing positively to the team and supporting sustainable practices.
About you:
You’ll be a team player who takes pride in delivering excellent service and maintaining high standards. You’ll be reliable, friendly, well presented, and comfortable working in a busy visitor environment.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage your time effectively.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
High standards of personal presentation and hygiene.
Availability to work a 7-day rotating roster.
A hospitality qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
