C++ Developer (STANAG 4856, TCP/ UDP Socket, MAVlink)
Job Description
Location: Hyderabad, India (Full-Time, On-site)
Experience: 5–8 Years
Industry: Aerospace / Defense / UAV & Robotics / Embedded Systems
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Communication Engineer with deep expertise in Modern C++ and low-level network/serial protocols. In this role, you will design and build robust, high-performance communication software interfaces that connect critical embedded systems, autopilot software, and Ground Control Stations (GCS).
If you excel at low-level bit manipulation, custom packet crafting, and ensuring flawless data reliability in real-time, mission-critical environments, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
• Protocol Design & Implementation: Architect and maintain robust communication software interfaces using Modern C++.
• Packet Crafting & Verification: Design custom data packet structures, manage serialization/deserialization, and implement strict verification methods (Checksums, CRC, Parity bits).
• Network & Serial Communication: Implement and optimize TCP/UDP socket programming alongside traditional Serial Communication (RS-232, RS-485, UART).
• Low-Level Data Manipulation: Utilize bitwise operations for efficient memory management, data masking, and parsing high-frequency data streams.
• Reliability & Error Handling: Design deterministic mechanisms to detect data loss, mitigate latency, and implement recovery/retransmission strategies (ACK/NACK, timeouts, sliding windows).
• System Integration: Seamlessly interface communication backend pipelines with autopilot software, Ground Control Stations (GCS), and Mission Planners.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with systems, hardware, and QA teams to diagnose bugs, analyze packet captures, and resolve root-cause protocol issues.
Technical Requirements
1. Core Software Development
• Strong proficiency in C++ (C++11 or higher) with a proven track record of writing clean, high-performance, and thread-safe code.
• Deep understanding of bitwise operations (AND, OR, XOR, shifting) for parsing raw hardware data.
• Extensive experience with memory-efficient data structures and multi-threaded architectures.
2. Networking & Hardware Communication
• Solid grasp of the OSI model, particularly Transport Layer protocols (TCP/UDP).
• Thorough knowledge of packet transfer dynamics across differing hardware architectures (Endianness, byte alignment, structure padding).
• Hands-on experience with Serial Communication configuration (Baud rates, frequencies, stop bits, flow control).
• Proficiency with network analysis tools like Wireshark to debug, trace, and analyze packet streams.
3. Domain-Specific Protocols & Tools(At least one required)
• Direct experience with the MAVLink protocol or similar drone/UAV communication frameworks.
• Familiarity with military standardization agreements (e.g., STANAG 4586 for UAV interoperability).
• Functional knowledge of military bus architectures like MIL-STD-1553.
• Experience interfacing backend systems with Mission Planner, QGroundControl, or similar GCS software architectures.
4. Timing & Reliability
• Experience managing time-critical data, minimizing latency, and implementing precise packet timestamping for real-time systems.
• Proven ability to design robust error-handling logic to manage packet loss, connection drops, and re-request states gracefully.
