About the Role
My client is in the Construction Sector and is well known in the Commercial space, they are looking to grow and bring on their first Business Development Manager, so this is a genuine opportunity to build something from the ground up.
You'll own the sales function, grow a client portfolio, and work closely with the Director to shape how the business wins work. If you're ambitious, know the construction industry inside out, experienced from tendering through to completion and thrive on building real relationships, this role was made for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the construction sector, including commercial and industrial projects.
- Manage and nurture existing client relationships, ensuring continuity and trust
- Lead the full sales lifecycle from initial outreach through to client acquisition
- Read and interpret tenders, costings, and estimates to have informed conversations with clients and internal teams.
- Travel interstate regularly to meet clients, attend site visits, and represent Anchor Construction Group at industry events.
- Spot upsell and cross-sell opportunities within the existing client base and act on them proactively.
- Build and document a repeatable sales process that can scale as the team grows.
- Report directly to the Director and contribute to the broader commercial strategy of the business.
- Proven track record of closing sales
Requirements
- Solid background in business development or sales within the Australian construction industry junior or senior - what matters is that you're driven and hungry to grow.
- Deep understanding of the construction industry, including tendering processes, project costing, and estimates.
- Proven ability to build rapport, manage long-term client relationships
- Comfortable with interstate travel and a mix of office-based and client-facing work.
- Strong communication skills and the commercial acumen to identify and act on new revenue opportunities.
