The Information Division is responsible for supporting the department's core ICT infrastructure and services. The division has a diverse range of responsibilities, including cloud services, network support, ICT project management, business system development and information governance.
As an Azure network administrator within the division you will push the boundaries of technology to create and support innovative solutions that redefine traditional networking practices. Key responsibilities include:
Design, configure, and troubleshoot: manage virtual network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, ExpressRoute (including overall connectivity between on-premises and the cloud resources) and VPNs
Network security: implement and maintain network security measures such as access controls, intrusion detection, and encryption in alignment with Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) guidelines and industry best practice
Performance monitoring and optimization: conduct network performance monitoring and optimisation to ensure high availability and reliability
Automation: knowledge and understanding of deployments and managing of Azure resources as infrastructure as code (IaC), for example deployments with Bicep and Terraform using DevOps practices
Stay current: keep up to date with emerging network technologies and threats, applying this knowledge to enhance our network security posture

We are seeking a dynamic and creative Azure network administrator who thrives on solving complex problems and developing cutting-edge solutions. As a key member of the Core Services section you will design, implement, and manage cloud networking solutions ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
The Azure network administrator role aligns with the skills for the information age (SFIA) framework. Under this framework, the role provides technical leadership to optimise the department's cloud network infrastructure. This includes contributing to the operational configuration of Azure network components. Assisting in the investigation and resolution of network problems, and assists with specified maintenance procedures. Carries out agreed maintenance tasks and specified operational configuration of cloud/network components.
Qualifications and experience:
proven experience as a network administrator or similar role
strong knowledge of Azure networking services and virtual network devices
experience with network security measures and best practices
proficiency in network performance monitoring and optimisation tools
excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
ability to stay current with emerging technologies and threats
experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or multi-cloud models, Microsoft Global Secure Access, Entra Internet Access and Entra Private Access is desirable but not necessary for this role
