The Opportunity
I am seeking an Assistant Manager or Manager – Tax with strong technical tax knowledge, hands-on experience working with small and mid-sized private enterprises, and a genuine passion for tax planning and corporate reorganizations.
This role is ideal for someone who is:
• Enrolled in the CPA In-Depth Tax Program (or has completed Year 1)
• Eager to deepen their tax expertise
• Motivated to take on increasingly complex advisory work
• Looking for a mid-sized firm environment with real access to partners and meaningful client impact
You will work closely with partners and senior tax leaders on planning files, reorganizations, compliance reviews, and advisory engagements while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the growth of the tax practice.
What You Will Be Doing
• Preparing and reviewing personal trust and corporate income tax returns and year-end tax planning.
• Supporting and leading corporate reorganizations.
• Conducting tax research and preparing technical memos.
• Identifying tax issues and proposing practical, value-added solutions.
• Managing a portfolio of small and mid-sized private enterprise clients.
• Reviewing tax working papers and compliance prepared by junior staff.
• Assisting with CRA audit support and responding to CRA queries.
• Participating in tax planning meetings with clients and partners.
• Contributing to internal tax training and mentoring junior team members.
• Supporting business development initiatives and strengthening client relationships.
You Are a Great Fit If You…
• Hold a CPA designation
• Are enrolled in the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or have completed Year 1.
• Have 4+ years of public practice experience with a strong tax focus.
• Have experience working with small and mid-sized private enterprises.
• Have exposure to corporate reorganizations and want to deepen that expertise.
• Enjoy tax research, technical problem-solving, and planning work.
• Are detail-oriented, analytical, and committed to high-quality work.
• Enjoy mentoring junior staff and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
• Prefer a mid-sized firm environment with strong partner access and real growth opportunities.
• Are comfortable working in a paperless, cloud-based environment.
Preferred Tools: TaxCycle, CaseWare Cloud, Jazzit, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero.
