Libraries are a core function of Council, responsible for delivering library services to the Upper Hutt community. Working within the Central Services Team, you will help us deliver proactive and engaging services that enrich the lives of our Upper Hutt community at our Central Library in the Upper Hutt CBD.
We have several on-call contracts available for people who are immediately available to cover a variety of shifts across our seven-day operations. Our Central Library is open:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday between 9am and 6pm
Wednesday between 9.30am and 6pm
Friday between 9am and 5pm
Saturday and Sunday, between 10am and 4pm
To be successful in these roles, you will have:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A passion for providing excellent customer service and be capable of dealing with the public in a confident, calm and friendly manner that will bring credit to yourself and the Council.
An understanding of public libraries and their role in their communities.
Teamwork skills and the ability to work positively with colleagues.
A clear understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi Principles.
Well-developed computer skills and the ability to assist customers with basic troubleshooting.
