The Attorney-General's Department is seeking to create a merit pool to fill current and future Assistant Director vacancies within the Human Resources (HR) Branch.
The HR Branch provides expert and strategic advice in developing the departments human resource management policies and strategies. The branch is responsible for workforce capability and planning, learning and development, employee conditions, performance management, health and wellbeing, diversity strategies, remuneration policy, recruitment and employment programs, HR Assist, employee conduct and review of actions.
Our Assistant Directors support their relevant Directors in shaping and leading the department's broad ranging HR functions.

excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships, engage stakeholders identify innovative solutions and drive implementation
a proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team to achieve outcomes, influence processes and build capability
demonstrated leadership capability and people management skills with the ability to set clear direction, think strategically, and manage competing priorities
technical knowledge and application of HR practices
excellent ability in translating and presenting technical information into plain English for a variety of audiences
demonstrated experience engaging with and/or advising on complex industrial relation matters and employment policy
a proven ability to interpret and provide advice on the application of the employment framework, including enterprise agreements, applicable legislation and/or government policies such as the Public Service Act 1+++, Fair Work Act 200+ or the Public Sector Workplace Relations Policy. Qualifications in Human Resource Management and/or AHRI HR Certification are highly desirable.
