Details: Reporting to the Director (Incident Management) the Assistant Director supports the operational incident management function and provides high‑level coordination, risk assessment capability and stakeholder management across the branch.
This role operates in a demanding, fast‑paced environment characterised by exposure to complex, sensitive and high‑stakes incidents. The Assistant Director must exercise sound judgement under pressure, provide calm leadership and manage complex and sensitive situations that require time‑critical decision‑making and a high degree of discretion.
While located within the Incident Management unit, the Assistant Director may be required to work flexibly across the branch in response to operational demands, critical incidents or emerging system priorities.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
