Asset Head – Cargo (Regional)
Job Description
Asset Head – Cargo (Regional) is responsible for developing and expanding cargo business within the regional catchment, focusing on market creation, customer outreach, and volume growth aligned with the airport’s overall cargo strategy.
The role actively engages regional exporters, importers, MSMEs, freight forwarders, and airline partners to stimulate demand, improve cargo connectivity, and enhance utilization of cargo infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities of Role
Regional Cargo Market Development & Expansion: Build cargo demand within the region by actively engaging exporters, importers, MSMEs, and key industry clusters including agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing.
Generate incremental cargo volumes by supporting airline route development initiatives, freighter induction programs, and focused, sector-led cargo growth initiatives.
Customer Outreach & Relationship Management: Establish and sustain strong working relationships with regional freight forwarders, CHA networks, logistics service providers, and key local customers to strengthen and expand the cargo ecosystem.
Proactively address customer issues, deliver practical and tailored solutions, and improve service adoption through regular engagement, feedback, and follow-up mechanisms.
Commercial Execution & Revenue Optimization: Implement business development initiatives aligned with Head Office strategy, with emphasis on sustainable revenue growth, improved cargo mix, and competitive, market-relevant service offerings.
Support commercial negotiations, contract execution, and customer agreements within delegated authority, ensuring compliance, commercial discipline, and measurable value creation.
Market Intelligence & Opportunity Identification: Monitor regional cargo trends, evolving customer requirements, and competitor offerings to identify new business opportunities and service enhancement areas.
Provide structured and actionable market inputs to Head Office to support network planning, product development, and informed strategic decision-making.
Cargo Operations & Service Reliability: Ensure efficient and consistent day-to-day cargo operations, with strong attention to turnaround timelines, documentation accuracy, and customer service standards.
Work closely with operations and AFS teams to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and improve overall cargo handling efficiency and reliability.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation Control: Ensure full compliance with safety, customs, security, and regulatory requirements across all cargo activities at the station.
Oversee documentation accuracy, audit preparedness, and compliance reviews to minimize operational risk and prevent regulatory deviations.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination: Lead and motivate cargo teams to deliver on business growth objectives while maintaining high standards of service quality and safety.
Maintain effective coordination with airlines, customs authorities, ground handlers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless cargo operations and timely issue resolution.

Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification: Master's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Aviation Management, or a related field.
Work Experience: 12+ years of experience in business development, with a focus on the aviation industry, including experience in strategic partnerships, contract negotiations, and market analysis.
