Job Description
We are looking for someone – or multiple people, to deliver all piano courses for the Autumn Term 2026 with the view to continue in a permanent role.
The Courses are outlined below:
Play Piano (MU98 Autumn)
Mondays 15:30–20:30
Level – All
Play Piano (MU12 Autumn)
Tuesdays 15:30-20:30
Level – All
Play Piano (MU95 Autumn)
Wednesdays 15:30-20:30
Level – All
Play Piano (MU13 Autumn)
Thursdays 13:00-15:00 & 15:30-20:30
Level – All
Play Piano (MU97 Autumn)
Friday 15:30-20:30
Level – All
To deliver tuition as part of MAC’s Learning & Participation programme, with additional responsibilities as follows
Devising clear lesson plans and course structure to enable progression of learning, and the ability to adapt to each participant needs.
Ensuring the course is delivered as per the course description. Teaching all levels of Piano techniques.
Continuous reflection and evaluation on the course, and quality of delivery.
Work within MAC’s policies with specific attention to Safeguarding and Health & Safety.

Additional responsibilities as follows:
You will need to devise a clear course structure to enable progression of learning, and the ability to adapt to each participant’s needs.
Teaching students to the agreed level for the course (eg, beginner/ improver/advanced).
Preparation ahead of the course for equipment and technical requests by liaising with the Learning Team.
Continuous reflection and evaluation on the course, and quality of delivery.
Work within MAC’s policies with specific attention to Safeguarding and Health & Safety.
Note
This course will run on Monday to Friday afternoon and evenings throughout the academic year at the times listed.
The Autumn Term 2026 starts w/c Monday 14 September 2026
The Spring Term 2027 starts w/c Monday 4 January 2027
The Summer Term 2027 starts w/c Monday 12 April 2027
We expect the successful candidate to attend an induction session at MAC before they start.
Person Specification
Essential
Previous experience in delivering practical piano courses and workshops.
Educated/experienced to a suitable level in Piano.
Proven ability to communicate well with a range of people using varied communication methods.
A passion and commitment to the Arts.
A commitment to further your skills and knowledge in participatory arts, including attending meetings, participating in training, and reflecting on your practice.
An understanding of and commitment to MAC’s key objectives.
An understanding of the practical application of MAC’s Equal Opportunities and Diversity policy.
