The Role
The satellite communications (SATCOM) Contracting Team supports projects and products within the systems program office (SPO) across all phases of the procurement lifecycle. Are you self-motivated; enthusiastic; and a forward thinker. Our ideal candidate will be accountable under limited direction to performing complex procedural, operational, and administrative work within the satellite communications (SATCOM) Contracting Team. You will be accountable to interpret and provide advice and assistance on procurement and contract management issues in accordance with legislation, procurement policies and procedures.
You will have high levels of flexibility to respond to changing priorities and challenges of the work environment. Sound decision-making and judgment skills; excellent communication; and stakeholder engagement skills are key attributes required for the position. You will also actively participate in teamwork, group activities and contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
Space Systems Branch acquires and sustains SATCOM systems, and is a trusted advisor of SATCOM systems for the Australian Defence Organisation. The team comprises professionals from various disciplines including project management, engineering, commercial, and logistics. This multi-disciplinary team is composed of highly skilled and motivated Australian Public Service, Australian Defence Force and contracted personnel. The team works from Brindabella Park offices in Canberra and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence and other Government Agencies.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in procurement and contract management providing policy advice and support in relation to complex work.
They may have experience as leading teams and being accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. The candidate will have considerable experience in stakeholder engagement including identifying, anticipating and responding to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
Key attributes, knowledge and experience we are looking for:
A self-motivated, collaborative, and innovative thinker whom can work in a fast-paced environment.
Experience in a similar role, in particular contract management, performance, service delivery or delivery of logistics outcomes.
Good interpersonal skills; ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on moderately complex operational and administrative matters.
Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritise a changing workload and negotiate an outcome.
