Job Description
Salary Range: $95,440 - $99,461 + 15.4% employer super contribution

The DVA Security Section is responsible for managing the department’s security arrangements to protect DVA’s people, information and assets from security threats.
A security officer is required to manage operational and administrative tasks across the DVA Security Section.
The Security section is looking for a new team member who is enthusiastic, hardworking and can learn new tasks quickly in the exciting and ever-changing world of protective security.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team. They will support senior team members to achieve positive security outcomes in accordance with the Australian Government’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
DUTIES
As a Security Officer you will be required to:
Helping to operate and maintain DVA’s electronic security systems.
Working with and supporting DVA’s contracted security guards and Regional Security Advisors.
Managing the administration of travel briefings and contact reporting.
Undertaking clear desk checks of National Office.
Managing security group mailboxes, including responding to non-complex security enquiries.
Assisting with delivery of routine site security inspections, and domestic commemorative. event security planning and operations.
Preparing draft internal standard operating procedures for review by senior staff.
Coordinating security clearances.
Conducting pre-employment screening.
ELIGIBILITY
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
Any successful candidate external to DVA offered employment will be required to undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
Any successful candidate will also be required to obtain and/or maintain, a NV1 security clearance as a minimum.
