About the Role Our client, a pioneering force in agricultural technology, is seeking a skilled Agricultural Systems Engineer to join their team in **Edmonton, Alberta**. This role is integral to the design, development, and implementation of automated systems and robotic solutions for modern farming operations. You will work on projects ranging from autonomous vehicles and robotic harvesting to advanced sensor networks and data acquisition systems. Your expertise will contribute to increasing efficiency, reducing labor costs, and enhancing the sustainability of agricultural practices. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, software developers, and agronomists. This position is based full-time at our **Edmonton** R&D facility, offering hands-on experience with cutting-edge agricultural automation. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test automated systems and robotic platforms for agricultural applications. Develop control algorithms, embedded software, and user interfaces for agricultural machinery. Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication systems into robust agricultural solutions. Conduct system simulations and performance analysis to optimize design and functionality. Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure seamless system integration. Develop and implement testing protocols for hardware and software components. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in prototype and production systems. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics, AI, machine learning, and agricultural technology. Contribute to the technical documentation, specifications, and project reports. Work closely with field operations teams to ensure successful deployment and adoption of automated systems. Requirements Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation, robotics, or control systems engineering. Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing complex engineering systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar. Experience with microcontrollers, PLCs, and embedded systems development. Familiarity with robotics concepts, kinematics, and control theory. Knowledge of agricultural practices and challenges is a strong asset. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Strong teamwork and communication abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, R&D environment. Must be authorized to work in Canada.
