About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a Nurse Practitioner, providing both independent and collaborative specialty care at the Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River, located in Patuxent River, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. ['Conduct and direct collaborative care assessment, diagnosis and management of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.', 'Perform a systematic physical examination and interpret abnormal and normal findings to form a diagnosis regarding physical, emotional, or social disabilities.', 'Order and interpret related laboratory and diagnostic tests; prescribe medications; and initiates emergency care.', 'Educate patients and their families regarding healthcare processes and diagnostic tests; therapeutic regimen, including medication, diet, follow-up care; and methods of adapting medication and treatment to current lifestyles.', 'Document encounters, assessments, orders, and interventions, appropriately, in the electronic medical record.', 'Consult and collaborate with physicians regarding patient management, to include evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or extremely complex patients.', 'Provide counseling to patients and their families in prevention of illness, maintenance of health, and attainment of physical, mental, and social well-being.', 'Assist in the designing, development and evaluation of quality improvement methodologies.'] FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
