Employing Unit: Colonial Farm Credit/Administrative office (onsite)
Position Title: Accounting Associate (Loan Accountant)
Salary: $46,000+ commensurate with experience and qualifications plus superb benefits package provided to all employees including up to 9% 401k contributions and profit-sharing program
Position Summary:
Colonial Farm Credit ( www.colonialfarmcredit.com ) is an agricultural credit cooperation and provides loans for:
Farms and country homes
Land purchase, home construction, and improvements
Buildings, machinery, livestock and equipment
Production capital for both full-time and part-time farmers
Ag-related businesses
We have an excellent employment opportunity for an Accounting Associate (Loan Accountant) in our Finance Department/Administrative office located in Mechanicsville, VA under the general direction of the Controller.
Primary Functions
Performs loan accounting activities of the Association, in addition to general ledger transactions
Loan Accounting
Processes post-closing loan maintenance, including modifications
Monitors various loan reports and coordinates correction and assessment of appropriate fees
Processes Cash Management transactions including verification of wires for loan disbursements, receipting payments and consolidating daily receipts for direct loan repayment
Inputs participation loan activity for loans purchased from institutions outside the AgFirst Farm Credit Bank district
Posts general ledger transactions related to loan accounting
General Accounting
Processes retirement of equities according to procedures
Performing secondary verifications
Serve as back up for other responsibilities
Performs reconciliations as assigned
Education, Experience, and Requirements (things you need to be successful)
Education or experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree in accounting or comparable field
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Superior attention to detail
Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and work independently (general supervision)
Strong communication, telephone, customer service, grammatical, and organization skills
Ability to work effectively with Association employees at all levels
Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, and drug)
