JOB SUMMARY:
This is an entry level accounting position. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for basic accounting functions, which include overseeing the credit card chargebacks, UPS administration, Business license renewals, UCP processing, employee loans and general ledger balancing as well as other accounting functions as necessary.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Setup Vendors for Refunds & validate the associated refunds
Assists Accounts Receivable department as needed
Process Customer Account Adjustments
Responsible for UPS and Stamps.com administration
Date stamp, open, sort, scan, and disperse mail. Scan and deposit checks from mail.
Responsible for ordering office supplies and maintaining office supply inventory
Responsible for weekly AR verification and adjustments
Assist with Sales and Use Tax compliance, including necessary research, data analysis and tax filings
Assist with Income tax prep – supporting schedules
Assist Accounts Payable department as needed, including entering corporate accounts payable into Sage accounting software
Assists with Real Estate and Personal Property taxes
Responsible for GL Account Reconciliations and associated journal entries.
Additional accounting functions as needed.
IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and use acquired knowledge and skills to perform accounting functions.
Requires knowledge of office practices and clerical/accounting techniques to devise office procedures.
Highly organized.
Excellent people skills.
Previous experience or ability to learn PestPac and Sage Intaact as well as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and SharePoint.
Accounting Experience preferred
Must have extensive use of excel
Ability to type 40 wpm and use a calculator.
